    Our disciplined investment process — from idea generation to credit research, to portfolio management and risk management — seeks to achieve attractive risk-adjusted returns over a market cycle. Key parts of our process is of analyzing a company's business model and competitive advantages include the assessment of not only historical and projected quantitative credit metrics but also relative competitive positioning, underlying value drivers, and the incentives and motivations of its management team and equity owners.

    We take an active approach to portfolio management by applying a top-down macro and technical overlay that seeks to opportunistically position portfolios based on our view of the macro and market environment.

    Our investment professionals (including portfolio managers) are primarily organized by industry, which we believe is consistent with a philosophy that prioritizes understanding credit risk. Each sector is generally covered by both a portfolio manager and credit analyst, which means there are two sets of eyes — and sometimes two different perspectives — on most investments we make.
